Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) of active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup of warm water

Instructions:

Activate the Yeast:

    • Using your D'BakerAid, select one of the yeast fermentation/activation programs that matches your yeast type (e.g., Fresh, Instant, Dry) for the D'Yeast glass bowl.
    • Place the yeast, sugar, and warm water in the D'Yeast glass bowl, and then close it with the lid.
    • Let the program run until the yeast is fully activated (usually 10-15 minutes).

Mix the Dough:

    • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
    • Once the yeast is activated, add the flour mixture and olive oil to the D'Dough larger bowl.
    • Mix the ingredients manually in the D'Dough bowl until you have a smooth, elastic dough.

 Rise:

    • Leave the dough in the D'Dough bowl and cover it with the lid.
    • Select one of the proofing programs that matches your dough type (e.g., White, Mixed, Whole Grain) on the D'BakerAid.
    • Allow the dough to rise until it has doubled in size, which typically takes 1-2 hours.

Shape and Cook:

    • Preheat a cast-iron skillet or a griddle over medium-high heat.
    • Divide the risen dough into small, golf ball-sized portions.
    • Roll each portion into a thin, round pita shape (about 6 inches in diameter).

Cook the Pita:

    • Place a pita round on the hot skillet or griddle and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until it puffs up and becomes lightly browned.

Serve:

    • Serve the freshly cooked pita bread warm with your favorite dips or fillings.

Enjoy your homemade pita bread!
