Garlic bread, a beloved classic around the world, has its roots in the Mediterranean, where combining bread with olive oil, garlic, and herbs has been a culinary tradition for centuries. In Italian cuisine, it evolved into "bruschetta" and later transformed into the garlic bread we know today, often paired with pasta or served as a side dish.

These soft, fluffy garlic bread buns are inspired by that rich history, baked together in a single mold, yet easily breakable into individual round buns. With D'BakerAid’s yeast activation and dough proofing programs, you can recreate this timeless favorite in a new, easy way. Infused with garlic flavor and baked to perfection, these buns make for a delicious and shareable addition to any meal and occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 500g bread flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 250ml lukewarm milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (for dough)
  • 50g unsalted butter, melted or olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh minced garlic (for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Yeast Activation:

    • In D'Yeast 2.5L bowl, combine lukewarm milk, sugar, and yeast.
    • Close the bowl with the lid and select the yeast activation program on D'BakerAid.
    • Let the program run until the yeast is fully activated.
  2. Mixing the Dough:

    • Transfer the activated yeast mixture to the D'Dough 4.5L bowl.
    • Add melted butter, flour, salt, and minced garlic to the bowl.
    • Mix and knead the ingredients using the manual mixing or kneading program until a soft, elastic dough forms.
  3. Proofing the Dough:

    • Select the White dough proofing program.
    • Cover the bowl with the lid and let D'BakerAid do the proofing.
  4. Shaping the Buns:

    • Once proofed, transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
    • Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape each portion into a smooth ball.
    • Arrange the dough balls in a lightly greased loaf pan or round baking mold, placing them close together so they’ll bake into a single loaf but remain easy to pull apart.
  5. Second Rise:

    • You can place the pan on the Smart Hub for the second rise.
    • Cover the pan with the larger lid or clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 15-30 minutes, until doubled in size.
  6. Garlic Butter Brushing:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • In a small bowl, mix melted butter with garlic powder (or fresh minced garlic) and parsley (optional).
    • Brush the tops of the risen dough balls generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  7. Baking:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown and baked through.
  8. Finishing:

    • Remove the loaf from the oven and brush with additional garlic butter for extra flavor.
    • Let the buns cool slightly before serving, then pull apart to enjoy soft, garlic-infused bread.

Note: In the bread you see in the pictures, we added grated mozzarella into each dough ball for a cheesy twist.

Tip: For an extra treat, try adding grated mozzarella (or any cheese you like) into each dough ball before the second rise. The result? A delicious, cheesy surprise in every bite! This step will take your garlic bread to the next level, making it both classy and indulgent.
